Kayla Kendrick aka KVYLV KVY aka Kayla Kay is a Cincinnati based artist and fashion designer. Raised by her mother as the eldest of five children, she learned responsibility early. She attended CPS and did very well in her studies. Art was my favorite class. Growing up she spent most of her time in her room, drawing for hours on end. Art became a place of solace, a way to soothe what she couldn’t yet name.

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program, Kayla fell right into the workforce trying to gain as much experience as she could. She has held positions that span from the marketing industry all the way to financial crimes industry. Just trying to move around the chess board and get in where she fit in. She currently works as an art teacher for CPS. Full circle moment, right?

Her work is born from a place of isolation longing for identity, placement, and creative expression. Shaped by nature and shaped by her experience. Her brush moves with intent of power and vulnerability, refusing the limits of societal norms. She spent years searching for a niche to belong to, only to realize she is the niche. It has no name! Whether it’s fashion or art, her work is intuitive and alive—felt in the soul as much as the eye.
